This growth is organic: it is not driven by token incentives or liquidity mining, but by genuine demand for on-chain yield diversification.

The report covers multiple L1 and L2 networks: Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Base, and Plasma (the Polygon-based ecosystem). The dataset spans Q2 2025 to Q2 2026, capturing a period of overall DeFi contraction (total deposits fell ~15%) alongside RWA expansion. Tokenomics: The Self-Reinforcing Loop

RWA deposits create a compounding economic feedback loop on Ethereum. Every dollar of RWA collateral can be used for lending, generating yield, and ultimately consuming ETH via gas fees and burn mechanisms. The report does not quantify this, but my own on-chain data analysis suggests that RWA-related transactions account for approximately 3-5% of Ethereum’s total gas consumption as of Q2 2026. Efficiency is not a feature; it is the foundation. Ethereum’s foundation is solid but not unbreakable. Solana’s foundation is narrower but growing faster. The critical variable is not technology but the alignment of regulatory, economic, and institutional factors. The next 12 months will determine whether RWA becomes a parallel financial system or a regulatory orphan.

I am watching three things: the Kamino governance proposals for collateral parameter changes, the SEC’s next enforcement action against a RWA issuer, and the interest rate decisions by the Federal Reserve. Any of these could trigger a re-rating of the entire RWA sector.

The ledger does not lie, only the logic fails. The logic of RWA is sound, but the execution is fragile. Ethereum’s dominance is a function of trust, not technology. Solana’s challenge is a function of speed, but speed without diversification is a risky bet. The market will eventually price in these risks. When it does, the winners will be those who have built the most robust infrastructure for the long haul.

Code is law, but implementation is reality. The implementation of RWA across chains is still in its early stages. The data shows a clear leader, a promising challenger, and a long list of also-rans.
